Invisalign® – Gorgeous, Straight Teeth…With No Braces

Do you look in the mirror and long for a straighter, more evenly aligned smile? Maybe your parents never got around to fixing your crooked teeth, or perhaps your teeth have shifted back into their old positions in the years since your last visit to the orthodontist. Whatever the case, Invisalign® trays may be your solution for a more attractive smile.

What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a teeth aligning system that uses a series of custom-made trays that slowly shift your teeth from their current position into better alignment. The trays are clear, making them almost entirely invisible, so you can wear them at any time during the day or night when you are not eating or drinking (beverages other than water).

The trays are progressive, beginning with a very minor adjustment to your teeth. As you wear each set of trays for about two weeks at a time, your teeth will move into their new positions in as little as six months.

What Can You Expect During Your Clear Braces Treatment?

When you first schedule an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Lowe, he will examine your teeth and determine whether or not Invisalign® is the right choice for you. Some patients find porcelain veneers or dental bonding to be a better solution, depending on how misaligned their teeth are and their goals for their smile, but many patients find that Invisalign® is highly effective, easy, and comes with minimal discomfort.

Once you’ve decided to move forward with treatments, we will take impressions of your teeth and send them out to have your custom trays made. When your trays come in, we will schedule an appointment to make sure that your first trays are fit properly, and you’ll begin your journey to a straighter smile.

Some patients find the trays a little bit uncomfortable at first, but most have very few issues. If your teeth ache, you can treat any discomfort with over-the-counter nSAIDs (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen).

You will need to take your trays out whenever you eat or when you drink beverages other than water, but brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, and replace your trays as soon as possible after you’re finished. You’ll want to avoid having your trays out of your mouth for more than two hours each day, as this slows your progress down significantly. Follow these care instructions for the best results possible.

Is Invisalign® Right for You?

If your teeth are mildly to moderately misaligned or uneven, you may find that Invisalign® trays are just what the doctor ordered and you are a great candidate. Unlike braces, they do not come with constant adjustments and appointments with the orthodontist.

They are also almost completely invisible, and most people will not even notice that you’re wearing them. Many of our patients have loved their experiences with Invisalign® and would recommend these handy trays to anyone who’s unhappy with his or her smile.

Caring for Your Newly Straightened Teeth

After your treatment is finished, your teeth can eventually shift back into their old positions. To avoid this, you’ll just need to wear a retainer when you go to sleep at night. This simple step will keep your teeth in beautiful alignment for years to come after just a few months’ treatments.
